Recorded live at the Continental Club in 2006, McMurtry bookends the 5-song Blast from the Past with his fan favorite “Rachel's Song” and Jon Dee Graham's classic “Laredo” with “St. Mary of the Woods,” “See the Elephant” and “Out Here in the Middle” between.
Four song EP recorded upstairs at The Continental Gallery features “Delaware” “Leveland” “Melinda” and “Peter Pan”
James McMurtry is donating 100% of sales of these 2 new and previously unreleased EPs to the legendary Continental Club that has hosted his Wednesday residency for more than two decades to help cover mounting costs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
100% of donations benefit the Continental Club and C-Boy’s Heart & Soul employees who can’t work during the current public health crisis in addition to everything that owners & management are doing to help out financially right now. These hard working folks normally work mostly for tips, so your assistance in helping us supplement them during this time of need is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your generosity! We look forward to serving you again soon!
The historic Austin live music destination first opened its doors in 1955 as a swanky private supper club, but in the decades since, it's become a mecca for roots, rockabilly, country, swing, rock and blues music every night of the week. The classic neon sign flashing above the entrance is a landmark on South Congress, and vintage cars and hot rods often line South Congress Avenue in front of the dimly lit club. In the year 2000, the world famous Continental Club spread it's wings and opened up a second location in another historic building, pioneering a resurgence in the Mid-Town area of Houston on Main Street. Both clubs offer the best of the best when it comes to a menu of live music and entertainment!
“This is simply one of the greatest clubs in the country. With its rich tradition and great reputation for always having the best music, the Continental Club is a hot spot for anyone who digs seeing great bands in an intimate atmosphere. As far as musicians are concerned, there's no better place to play... or go.”
